A RECORD-making expedition of Personal, National and Global ‘ Firsts ’
Asma is embarking on a two-year expedition to climb:
The fourteen -8000 meter-high peaks. The Explorers Grand Slam (Last Degree).
Asma is aiming to become the first Qatari and Arab to achieve both. Once completed, Asma will be the only female in the world to have achieved this tremendous goal making her amongst only two people that have achieved it ever.
The world’s 14 highest mountain peaks
The International Mountaineering and Climbing Federation or UIAA recognizes eight-thousanders as the 14 mountains that are more than 8,000 meters (26,247 ft) in height above sea level, and are sufficiently independent from neighboring peaks. All eight-thousanders are in the Himalayan and Karakoram Mountain ranges in Asia, and their summits are in the death zone. Only 44 people in the world have climbed all eight - thousanders

The Explorers Grand Slam is the ultimate adventurers goal - to reach the North Pole and South Pole, as well as climb the Seven Summits.
The Seven Summits are the highest mountains on each continent. Only 50 people in the world have achieved the Explorers Grand Slam (Last Degree) and only 21 have achieved the Explorers Grand Slam.
